Josh Traeger

Josh Traeger is an accomplished entrepreneur, seasoned attorney, military veteran, and founder of two legal enterprises — True North Legal Group and The Military Defense Firm.

At True North Legal Group in Traverse City, Michigan, he offers community-centered legal services, focusing on small business and nonprofit development.  Concurrently, as leader of The Military Defense Firm, Josh and his team provide dedicated representation to military personnel worldwide, handling courts-martial, separation boards, and other disciplinary matters.

Josh’s legal career is built upon almost two decades of service in the United States Air Force, where he excelled as a Senior Trial Counsel, prosecuting complex cases globally and earning multiple Meritorious Service Medals for his commitment to justice.  After his active duty career, he relocated to Northern Michigan with his family, establishing his successful businesses to provide world-class legal advocacy tailored to the needs of his community and service members worldwide.​

Alongside his wife, Josh also leads MJ Business Ventures, a capital firm focused on building and backing tech-enabled businesses that enhance the delivery of professional services.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Josh is a devoted husband and father of two. He actively participates in local community initiatives and enjoys Northern Michigan’s outdoor offerings, including mountain biking, hiking, camping, and skiing with his family.  His life reflects a deep commitment to service, integrity, and family.
